Trivers Questions – SC on Health and Wellness – Mar 7, 2017

April 24, 2017 by Brad Trivers 1 Comment

Nursing homes cost about $5400 per month per bed (hospitals between $17,000 and $37,000 per month per bed!). IDEA: Provide funding to help seniors live with loved ones instead of in nursing homes / hospitals. Give a monthly fee to the caregiver household, provide home care check-ups, and give the option to go to a day program (in existing schools?) and our seniors could live happily with loved ones – all for less money.

This idea has been raised to me by many constituents, and was one of my questions / suggestions to the Minister of Health & Wellness at the Standing Committee on Health & Wellness earlier this month. Based on the discussion with experts at the meeting, the idea is very feasible. Listen to all my questions in the video below.
