Seniors Housing Rent Supplement Now Available

November 14, 2018 by Brad Trivers Leave a Comment

The PEI government recently announced that rent supplements are available for seniors. To receive the rent supplement you need to apply, get assessed, and qualify (that’s the catch).  If you qualify, your rent gets capped at 25% of your income.

Since the rent supplements are new, an online form specific to them is not available. Please use the Seniors Housing form to apply. Don’t be confused if it looks like you are applying for a seniors housing unit.

Make sure you state that you are looking for a rent supplement. A housing officer will then assess if you qualify. Again, make sure you specify you are looking for a rent supplement. The housing officer may think you want a subsidized housing unit.

You can also call Keith Peters, Housing Services Manager @ (902) 368-5771. Make sure you state that you want a rent supplement. Mention that the Minister of Family and Human Services referred you.
