Agriculture Deserves Our Support

September 29, 2017 by Brad Trivers

“With an annual contribution to the Prince Edward Island economy approaching one billion dollars Agriculture continues to be one of Prince Edward Islands’ most important economic drivers”. Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative leadership candidate Brad Trivers stated. “And as such the agriculture industry deserves our support.”

Farms on Prince Edwards Island continue to deliver a wide range of exceptional products to world markets.  These farms and the numerous businesses that support them, range from micro to large scale operations. As well the diversity and range of crops, products and services continues to grow.

“Our agriculture products and services are second to none. I support further crop diversification, increased secondary processing, new product development, the development of a food security strategy and continued environmental/sustainability efforts.” Mr. Trivers noted.

Farmers continue to be stewards of the land and it is not only in their interest but in ours as well, that environmental stewardship continues to be a priority focus.

“As the leader of the Prince Edward Island Progressive Conservative party and the next premier of Prince Edward Island, I will work with the agriculture industry to ensure we continue to have a healthy and sustainable agriculture sector.”
