Beef cattle boarded on PEI but owned off-Island so sent away for killing

February 23, 2016 by 1 Comment

Many of the beef cattle on PEI are boarded here, but owned off-Island (e.g. owners in Ontario or Quebec).  When it is time for butchering the owner requests that the cattle are shipped to the owner’s plant of choice instead of going to Atlantic Beef Products.

we can grow the same quality of cattle in the Atlantic provinces , but are paid less than farmers in Quebec and Ontario . No wonder our sons and daughters , do not want to farm .Our buyers take our cattle to Quebec and get the higher prices. Not fair !!!
