Policy Differences – Trivers vs Aylward

October 4, 2017 by Brad Trivers 1 Comment

People have asked how I am different from the other candidate in this leadership race. Well, here are some policy positions we differ on:

ELECTORAL REFORM: He said he will implement the results of the promised electoral reform referendum during next general election. I say we need to take action, decide where we stand as a party and lead the way in lobbying for the result we want.

CORPORATE DONATIONS: He wants to put a ban on corporate and union donations. I say that it doesn’t matter where a donation comes from, it’s the integrity of the politicians and party that accepts it that matters – and our PC Party will need all the financial support we can get to win the next election.

E-GAMING SCANDAL: He wants to spend hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of taxpayer dollars by instituting a public inquiry into the e-Gaming scandal. I say that the Public Accounts committee already has the power to compel witnesses to testify and the only reason we haven’t gotten to the bottom of the e-Gaming scandal is that the Liberal majority on the committee keeps blocking our attempts to call witnesses. When the PC Party forms government under my leadership we will call e-Gaming witnesses before Public Accounts, get to the bottom of this scandal, and hold those responsible to account once and for all!

This why our Progressive Conservative Party mission and values are so important and must be the lens through which we make decisions and set policy. My positions are both Progressive and Conservative because they are guided by our mission and values.

As PC leader I will work with you: to rebuild our PC brand, put the focus on solutions for all Islanders, and build on our great PC caucus team to run a full slate of excellent candidates – and we will form government in the next election.

Maintenant c’est le temps pour retour aux fondations.

Now is the time to get back to basics.

That is why I ask for your support. Merci beaucoup. Thank you.
