MLA Communication

September 5, 2011 by Brad Trivers Leave a Comment

In my video blog post from September 4, 2011 I talk about how I believe that communication is the most important job of an MLA.

First off it is important to actively listen and understand what the needs of people are.  This means answering all queries – returning all phone calls, emails, and making yourself available for in-person meetings.

Secondly it is imperative that people can find out what the status of any request or issue or concern is – regardless of whether it may be perceived as positive or negative.  Sometimes it is simply not possible to fulfill a request and that needs to be communicated clearly just as much as when a request is being met.

As an MLA communication with my constituents will be a top priority.
