Use Confederation Bridge to carry new power cables

Would it not be more cheaper, more environmentally sustainable to run the submarine cables through the Confederation Bridge?  Was the bridge built with this capability in mind?

    Have been wondering about that since first seeing that picture of the cable laying ship, with the huge cable tray( the bridge ) in the background.
