A cheque from an off-Island company was cashed, cleared, and deposited in the chequing account of the client.  The source company then went bankrupt, and the money was returned to them.  Why was the bank allowed to do this?

Beef cattle boarded on PEI but owned off-Island so sent away for killing

Many of the beef cattle on PEI are boarded here, but owned off-Island (e.g. owners in Ontario or Quebec).  When it is time for butchering the owner requests that the cattle are shipped to the owner’s plant of choice instead of going to Atlantic Beef Products.

Cattle prices inconsistent at Atlantic Beef Products

“PEI farmers are being paid less for cattle of same quality than those purchased from off-Island (e.g. Quebec) – between $0.20 and $0.50 per pound after trucking expenses.  As well there are price discrepancies between what is paid to farmers on-Island that appear to be biased based on personal connections.”

Will community name on tax bill impact annexation and amalgamation?

A farm outside of the Town of North Rustico is officially in the community of “Rusticoville”, but on the tax bills it lists “North Rustico” as the community.  If/when annexation of this farm is pursued does this community label will mean that it will become part of the Town of North Rustico more easily? Will the “community” listed on a […]

What industries are weakest in terms of trade deficit?  We should target those areas for improvement – i.e. start producing PEI goods or services to decrease the amount spent on imports.  This may be especially easy for services. What is the breakdown of the PEI trade deficit by industry, type of spending, product or service? […]
